Anointed as the next "Heavenly Queen," Elva Hsiao really took the Mandarin music scene by storm in 1999. She even held two album sales celebrations, a record for a newcomer. Among the crop of newcomers, she has garnered more attention than anyone else with her voice, so much so that EMI Japan has invited her to release an English single at the end of 2000. The songs on this album were handpicked out of hundreds from around the world. They finally selected eleven diversely styled tracks. "Rose" is a Chinese version of Japanese R&B artist Sakura's "Oh I." Because the song is very difficult to perform, it took Elva ten days to record it. Sakura was the first to hear the finished product and she said, "Although I don't understand Chinese, when I heard Elva's voice, her beauty and sincerity made me feel as if I were being held by something big and fluffy. I've always been searching for something as borderless and warm as nature and I've found it in Elva's voice." Sakura's praise made Elva feel that her efforts were appreciated, she said excitedly, "I haven't had a chance her to thank her for writing such a beautiful song and giving me the chance to reinterpret it, but she's already given me such an assurance. I'm glad that she can appreciate my hard work."
